Pets As Therapy Home Study Course
Enjoy Volunteering In Your Own Location Where Ever You Live

Course graduates were asked if they thought the course was worthwhile.
Here’s what they had to say.

Julie receiving her course completion certificate

“Very much. A lot of issues have been raised which had not occurred to me.”
Kathryn (Wollongong) Volunteer

“Most definitely. I realise by completing the course there was a lot for me to learn even though I am a health worker. Especially keeping my animal and myself safe. Some times we forget to put ourselves first.”
Beth (Dubbo) Volunteer

“We are very happy at the facility where I work with the achievement of me completing the course. My boss is very proud that I enjoyed the course and that I learnt so much. I have enjoyed this course immensely, learn heaps and now feel confident in implementing a pets as therapy in our program of caring for the elderly.”
Nola (Lismore) Diversional Therapy

“Absolutely, can’t sing its praises high enough”
Julie (Sydney) Volunteer

“There were so many health and safety prodedures I hadn’t thought about. I now feel confident to take my Labrador with me when doing my counselling and she helps people to relax straight away plus it’s great having her along with me during the day.” Caroline (Canberra) Minister

“Yes. No one should expect to go into this program without some form of training.”
Kathryn (Central Coast) Volunteer

“Yes indeed. The legal and safety checklists are most worthwhile.” Mary (Sydney) Volunteer

“Both Percy (Maltese Terrier) and I have found this to be a very rewarding course. It is particularly good to have plenty of feedback. I particularly like the methodical order of the course - training your pet, what to take on a visit, then entering a facility and approaching residents with varying disabilities etc. It makes learning more manageable and the information, easier to learn. I am extremely glad I found out about the course.”
Melanie (Sydney) Volunteer

“I found the course very interesting and especially useful because they provided specific information and strategies for interacting with a variety of people that we would be likely to visit in facilities. Although I have been doing pets as therapy work for 7 years, I found this specific information really valuable in terms of understanding the types of health issues that people in facilities face and also found it incredibly useful in terms of the behaviours I use when interacting with such people.”
Kim (Victoria) Volunteer
