We now offer a Pets As Therapy Correspondence Training Course which includes every thing a person should know BEFORE taking a pet on a pets as therapy visit.

The priority is on health and safety issues for you, your pet and the frail and challenged people you visit. It includes a training program showing you how to safely approach and interact with adults or children with your pet; an easy to follow, training program for you to train your dog in your own home to the required obedience level and how to commence volunteer work in your local area. Some of the benefits offered to client’s from today’s visit were memory recall, communication, physical movement, and emotional interaction. These were displayed in M and J’s interaction with Ayla.  M was in bed and when asked if she would like to see Ayla she was so excited she attempted to climb out of bed by herself. As M patted Ayla she chatted about her memories of her precious dog that had died several years earlier. M was very spiritual and felt very strongly about the special bond that dogs have with humans and she seemed especially pleased to be able to talk about this with someone she obviously thought would understand her.  M smiled and laughed at Ayla’s tricks and really enjoyed giving her a treat.  J was also extremely excited to see Ayla.  She patter her with lots of ‘oohs’ and ‘ahs’ she was almost beside herself with emotion and joy.  There was a staff member with J during our visit and as we left the room J was enthusiastically telling her about how wonderful Ayla was and how she loved her visit.  It was very rewarding for me to se how much joy, fun, laughter and love Ayla brings to the residents and staff who also love to give her a pat and say ‘hello’.

We need some kind, community spirited individuals or groups to sponsor a nursing home, hospital or other type of health care facility, enabling frail and challenged adults and children, to receive pets as therapy visits.

We are a not for profit organisation. To help meet our expenses we ask facilities for a $60.50 donation per visit. Most facilities have a budget to cover this fee but some facilities have not. We are seeking kind sponsors to help our program go to places where it is needed, by donating:

Sponsorship:

$302.50 for 5 pets as therapy visits

$605.00 for 10 pets as therapy visits

$1,210.00 for 20 pets as therapy visits

$1,815.00 for 30 pets as therapy visits

$2,420.00 for 40 pets as therapy visits

$3,025.00 for 50 pets as therapy visits
